6th – 12th Graders in the Youth Group are headed to Las Cruces, New Mexico to represent Church of Christ Riverside in this years Bible Bowl.  Starting January 28th and ending on the 30th.  Students are encouraged to sign up for individual and/or team competition.  This years Bible Bowl is on the Revelation of John.  If you are interested in going with the students or as a student are interested in competing, please see Kent Hall or Jorel Johnson.

So how does one get ready for this?  Well I am glad you asked.  Church of Christ Riverside will be hosting an “In House” Bible Bowl.  Bring your vast knowledge of the Book of Revelation to help these students study properly, but also to learn more about the Word of God.  We will be hosting this friendly rivalry between adults and students at Riverside on the 23rd of January.  Please join us to make these students better bible bowlers, but also and more importantly better believers in our great God and King!

It has been some time since the chairs in the auditorium have been updated or changed.  They have gotten kind of worn in and roughed up.  And not to mention, the idea that somehow Mark wanted them to look like the whole church were fans of the Denver Broncos.  All kidding aside, the Elders are looking into the possibility of replacing the chairs in the auditorium.  The decision is not an easy one and like most everything at Riverside, the Elders would like to hear from you.  If you are interested in viewing one of the new chairs and take a look at what is being considered, please stop by the library to take a look.  That New Chair feels real great!

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews ? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”  Matthew 2:1-2.  The most important event in human history.  The birth of our Savior!  Come and join us as we, Worship the King together on Christmas Eve.  Got plans already for Christmas Eve, include our worship service as part of your holiday traditions.  The Worship Service starts at 6:00 pm.  This will be a wonderful way to escape all of the hustle and bustle of Christmas Commercialism.  Come and Worship.

Linda Hall has graciously opened her home on Saturday, December 4th to make cookie trees that will be delivered to home bound members of Riverside.  Kids in 3rd to 6th grade are welcome to come help make the trees.  It will be a great time of bowl and spoon licking AND fellowship.

What a wonderful time and meal!  This year, our breakfast had about 35 men or so that showed up from Riverside and the surrounding churches.  What great fellowship it was.  We had a number of great volunteers to help set up AND break down the mess that followed.  You know men, right ladies…  Along with the great meal and great fellowship, we were blessed with a devotional from our brother Marcos about our faith in the Lord and how we ought to be trusting men.  Thanks to all that were able to join us and those that were there to help out with all that went into the event.  See you all next year!

Who said Summer is over? Well, actually the school system and your boss did, but that doesn’t mean that we have to give up the weekends. Take this weekend for instance. Riverside is going on a picnic. Thanks to the Pattersons, we are gonna get the whole church together at Riverside and enjoy food, fun and fellowship. So bring the whole family and invite some friends to come be a part of the celebration. The event starts at 3:00 PM at Riverside Church and were not going home till… Well till we get kicked out. We are excited to see everyone out there. If you have any questions or would like to help set up, please get a hold of Billy or Connie. See you there!

We are so excited about the thought of connecting Riverside in a new way. We hope that this new site is that “new way”. Here each member can check in on the go with what is happening here locally. We want this site to also help others that are visiting or know the church that we love and share at. Some of the things that we are making for the members is a monthly calendar with all the information one would need to stay connected. We are also thinking about adding media, such as Mark’s messages or video. In addition to this, there is also a youth section for those kids that attend Salt and Light to remain connected to what the youth group is doing. Please click around and check out what we have done.
